A Saved Life
Proverbs 23:26: My son, give me thine heart, and let thine eyes observe my ways.
Solomon spoke to his listeners what God speaks to every mortal man. Give me thine heart.
Romans 12:1-2: I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. 2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
Mark 12:30: And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment.
Have you presented your body to Him? Have you given Him your heart, soul, mind and strength. Anything short of these things is unreasonable. We live our lives in our bodies. We do what we do in our bodies. He wants all that we are and all that we do. He doesn*t just want the shell. He wants the contents and the actions.
1 Corinthians 10:31b: . . . whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.
2 Thessalonians 3:1: Finally, brethren, pray for us, that the word of the Lord may have free course, and be glorified, even as it is with you: 2 And that we may be delivered from unreasonable and wicked men: for all men have not faith.
Before his conversion, Paul had been an unreasonable and wicked man, much like those that he now wanted to be delivered from. God saved him from being a wicked and unreasonable man. God saved him from having his own will and going his own way.
Isaiah 53:6: All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.
Paul knew that is the kind of salvation we all need. God does not want to just save us from Hell and save us for Heaven. He wants us to live a saved life.
Isaiah 30:21: And thine ears shall hear a word behind thee, saying, This is the way, walk ye in it, when ye turn to the right hand, and when ye turn to the left.
Romans 8:14: For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.
Has God saved you from being an unreasonable and wicked person? Has He saved you from going your own way and doing what you wanted? Are you walking in His way? Is the Holy Spirit leading you? Are you still conformed to the world or have you been transformed? Has your mind been transformed by the Bible and the Holy Spirit? Are you doing the good, acceptable and perfect will of God?
When we get to Heaven, the Lord will have all that we are and all that we do. Down here on earth we all fail to give Him everything, we are all unreasonable at times. But He forgives and gets us started toward perfection again. Like the Apostle Paul, we should never stop pressing toward the mark. The Lord knows how far each of us has come toward Him and wants us to come farther. When we back up we have farther to go. When we slow down we don*t make much progress. The Apostle Paul spoke about running the race that is set before us.
Philippians 3:13-16: Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, 14 I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. 15 Let us therefore, as many as be perfect, be thus minded: and if in any thing ye be otherwise minded, God shall reveal even this unto you. 16 Nevertheless, whereto we have already attained, let us walk by the same rule, let us mind the same thing.
Hebrews 12:1: Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,
