Anger

Psalms 37:8: Cease from anger, and forsake wrath: fret not thyself in any wise to do evil.

Proverbs 14:17: He that is soon angry dealeth foolishly: and a man of wicked devices is hated.

Proverbs 14:29: He that is slow to wrath is of great understanding: but he that is hasty of spirit exalteth folly.

Proverbs 16:32: He that is slow to anger is better than the mighty; and he that ruleth his spirit than he that taketh a city.

Proverbs 19:11: The discretion of a man deferreth his anger; and it is his glory to pass over a transgression.

Proverbs 22:24: Make no friendship with an angry man; and with a furious man thou shalt not go: 25 Lest thou learn his ways, and get a snare to thy soul.

Proverbs 25:28: He that hath no rule over his own spirit is like a city that is broken down, and without walls.

Ecclesiastes 7:9: Be not hasty in thy spirit to be angry: for anger resteth in the bosom of fools.

Matthew 5:22: But I say unto you, That whosoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment: and whosoever shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be in danger of the council: but whosoever shall say, Thou fool, shall be in danger of hell fire.

Martin R. De Haan II:

Too many of us misread anger as an expression and prerogative of strength. In most cases, however, anger signals unrecognized weakness. When we *lose our temper* in the process of trying to protect ourselves, we are not giving evidence of strength but of profound weakness. Being quick to anger puts us in great danger.

Booker T. Washington:

I will not let any man reduce my soul to the level of hatred.

M.D. S. I. McMillen:

The moment I start hating a man, I become his slave. The man I hate hounds me wherever I go. I can*t escape his tyrannical grasp on my mind. I really must acknowledge the fact that I am a slave to every man on whom I pour the vials of my wrath.

J. Dwight Pentecost:

The person who is so insensitive to violated right or justice or wounded love that he cannot respond in anger, is less than a complete human being. Be angry, but in manifesting your anger don*t let it control, dominate, grip, and possess you, so that the anger with its resultant resentment, bitterness and grudges becomes the major factor of your disposition or personality.
