Benefits Of Church Attendance 1

This article also appears in the website under the title You Need A Biblical Church. This article will take about 4 minutes to read.

John 3:3, 5: Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. 5 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.

You need to attend church regularly. If you have not been born again you need a church that will help you to have that experience. If the pastors and members do not testify that they have had that experience, communicate the necessity of it and share how it can happen to you, get out of there and find a church where those things do happen.

If you are not attending a local church, I feel sorry for you. There are some legitimate reasons for some people not to attend a local church (sickness, work, geographic). Are you fighting to get there, or fighting to stay away? If the latter is true, your reasons are not legitimate. If you are not attending a local church regularly, there is a church near your home that is not what the Lord wants it to be, because you are not there. Every believer has something important to contribute to the church, even new or weak believers. The absence of any person who should be part of a church weakens that church.

Ephesians 2:22: In whom ye also are builded together for an habitation of God through the Spirit.

John Wesley said: To turn Christianity into a solitary religion is to destroy it.

John R. Stott, Rector, All Souls Church, London, England on 1 Peter 2:5 where believers are called lively stones -- As living stones, believers are to get into their place and stay in their place in the church. He also said we ought not be fringe members or ecclesiastical gypsies.

Benjamin Franklin said: We must all hang together, or, most assuredly we shall all hang separately.

Hebrews 10:24-25: And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works; Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another; and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.

If you are part of a church your prayers can be reinforced.

Matthew 18:19-20: Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven. For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.

If you are part of a church you will be strengthened by other believers.

Proverbs 27:17: Iron sharpeneth iron; so a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend.

Christians are to be part of a team.

Ecclesiastes 4:8-12: There is one alone, and there is not a second; yea, he hath neither child nor brother: yet is there no end of all his labour; neither is his eye satisfied with riches; neither saith he, For whom do I labour, and bereave my soul of good? This is also vanity, yea, it is a sore travail. Two are better than one; because they have a good reward for their labour. For if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow: but woe to him that is alone when he falleth; for he hath not another to help him up. Again, if two lie together, then they have heat: but how can one be warm alone? And if one prevail against him, two shall withstand him; and a threefold cord is not quickly broken.

We are obviously stronger and better Christians when we are serving the Lord with other believers, part of God*s team. And it is helpful to have the wisdom of other believers. We need the confirmation of other believers that what we are doing is genuinely the Lord*s will. Without that confirmation, we get on shaky ground. None of us as individuals have perfect knowledge and understanding of God*s will and how best to serve Him at all times.
