The Best Medicine
Doctors often prescribe some pretty good medicine for us.
I read a sign recently that said: Laughter Is God*s Best Medicine. To be more accurate, laughter does good LIKE a medicine but it is not God*s best medicine.
Proverbs 17:22: A merry heart doeth good like a medicine: but a broken spirit drieth the bones.
Knowing that the Lord is wiser than we are, trusting Him and avoiding evil are better medicines.
Proverbs 3:7-8: Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the LORD, and depart from evil. 8 It shall be health to thy navel, and marrow to thy bones.
Obeying the Lord reduces our need for medicines.
Exodus 15:26: And said, If thou wilt diligently hearken to the voice of the LORD thy God, and wilt do that which is right in his sight, and wilt give ear to his commandments, and keep all his statutes, I will put none of these diseases upon thee, which I have brought upon the Egyptians: for I am the LORD that healeth thee.
Prayer is a powerful medicine.
James 5:14-15: Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord: 15 And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him.
The Bible is the best readable and hearable medicine.
James 1:21: Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls.
The blood of Christ is the best available medicine.
Revelation 1:5: And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood,
Being born again is the best applied medicine.
Titus 3:5-6: Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost; 6 Which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour;
