Blessings In Your Past

Hebrews 4:7: Again, he limiteth a certain day, saying in David, To day, after so long a time; as it is said, To day if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts.

To put off receiving Jesus is very foolish and if you have received Him, putting off obeying Him is also very foolish. He limiteth a certain day. God not only knows what is best to do, He knows when it is best to do it. Obeying Him at the wrong time is just as evil as not obeying Him at all. I had opportunities to receive Jesus as a young person but did not receive Him until I was 43 years of age. I did not have any opportunities to receive Him for about 30 years. During those 30 years I had several brushes with death. Why God was so gracious to me I can only guess. When we put it off we might never have another opportunity to receive Him. I have heard many heart-broken reports about loved ones who refused to receive Jesus who were dead within hours, days or weeks.

What I do know is that I missed about 3 decades of having Jesus in my heart and life. Now that I look back on about 30 years of having Him blessing my heart and life, I realize that His blessings could have been coming to me for 60 years. Some guesses I might hazard at the reason God was so gracious to me. (1) That I would be more grateful for my salvation. (2) That I would not give up on the elderly folk that I minister to. (3) That you would not reject your next opportunity to receive and/or serve Him.

Salvation and obedience are wonderful blessings when they are in your present and your future. But it is more wonderful to have decades of blessings in your past to remember too. I know of no one who ever regretted receiving Jesus after they did that.

Let Him take charge of your heart and life. The sooner you receive Jesus and begin serving Him, the more blessings you can have to remember.

Joshua 23:14b: . . . ye know in all your hearts and in all your souls, that not one thing hath failed of all the good things which the LORD your God spake concerning you; all are come to pass unto you, and not one thing hath failed thereof.

1 Samuel 12:24: Only fear the LORD, and serve him in truth with all your heart: for consider how great things he hath done for you.

1 John 3:1a: Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: . . .

1 Corinthians 13:8a: Charity (love)never faileth: . . .

Philippians 1:6: Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:

Lamentations 3:22-23: It is of the LORD*S mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. 23 They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.

1 Peter 1:3-5: Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, 4 To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you, 5 Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.

Psalms 119:1: Blessed are the undefiled in the way, who walk in the law of the LORD.

Psalms 16:11: Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.
