Christians Became More Enjoyable

Christians became more enjoyable for me when I received Jesus. Overnight, something changed about them. But I learned, and I*m still learning, that the change was not in them, it was in me.

John 3:3: Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.

1 Corinthians 2:14: But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.

Before I became born again I was a natural man. For me Christians were a pain in the neck. When they spoke about the Lord or spiritual things, they usually made no sense to me. They were individuals to be avoided. Now Christians are the individuals that I seek out and prefer to associate with. And unbelievers sometimes seem to think that I am a pain in the neck.

John 13:35: By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.

Galatians 6:10: As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith.

Before I received Jesus, I did not care who was going to Heaven and who was going to Hell. I was only concerned about myself. Now I know I am going to Heaven and I am deeply concerned about others.

The Bible also became more enjoyable to me. Before I received Jesus I read nine or ten books of the Bible and heard it quoted a lot. I read many other books back in my school days too. Some of the books were interesting and some were boring. The Bible was one of the boring ones. The Bible which was inspired by God and the boring books that were written by men were alike to me. Since I received Jesus, the Bible has come alive to me. But the Bible didn*t really change. I was changed. God, His Book, His people and others seem different to me now. But none of them have changed. Jesus changed me.

2 Corinthians 5:17: Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

If you have never had a time in your life that your feelings toward God, the Bible and other people were turned upside down, I wonder if you are truly a Christian or if you are suppressing the changes He wants to make in you.
