Deceivers

2 Timothy 3:13: But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived.

Mark 13:22: For false Christs and false prophets shall rise, and shall shew signs and wonders, to seduce, if it were possible, even the elect.

The worst thing that men can be deceived about is whether or not they are going to Heaven. People get very angry about deceit that causes temporary consequences. I am guilty of that too. If we have the right priorities the deceit we will be most angry about will be the deceit that has eternal consequences.

James 1:21: Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls.

Some will try to convince themselves and you that they do not need the Bible and neither do you. Or they might try to convince you that you don*t need the Bible every day.

Romans 10:17: So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

1 Peter 2:2: As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby:

Psalms 119:105: Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.

Acts 17:11: These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.

Some will try to convince themselves and you that they do not need to receive Jesus and neither do you. Or they will try to convince others who have not received Jesus that they have.

John 1:12: But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:

Some will try to convince themselves and you that they do not need to be born again and neither do you.

John 3:7b: . . . Ye must be born again.

Some will try to convince themselves and you that they do not need to be changed by Jesus and neither do you.

2 Corinthians 5:17: Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

Some will try to convince you that you do not need to come to Jesus.

John 6:37: All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out.

Some will try to convince you that you do not need Jesus.

1 John 5:12: He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.

Some will try to convince you that you do not need to ask Jesus to save you. They will try to convince you that faith that does not ask Jesus to save you is sufficient. J. Vernon McGee: Faith alone saves, but the faith that saves is never alone.

Romans 10:13: For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

Some will tell you, even from pulpits that your sins are forgiven and you are going to Heaven. The strongest statement that any man should make about that is: I am convinced you are saved and going to Heaven. But no man can look upon another man*s heart and know for sure. The only person who can tell you for sure that you are going to Heaven is the Holy Spirit Himself. He is the only One that you should believe about that most important of all issues.

Romans 8:16: The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:

If you have not heard it directly from the Holy Spirit, you ought to be deeply concerned.
