Every Thought

2 Corinthians 10:3: For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh: 4 (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;) 5 Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;

I am reproved at how many of my thoughts are not in captivity to the obedience of Christ. How about you? The battle between the Holy Spirit who lives in born again believers and their flesh is waged in their minds. When we think what Jesus wants us to think we will speak what Jesus wants us to speak and we will do what Jesus wants us to do.

Romans 13:14: But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfil the lusts thereof.

Ephesians 4:27: Neither give place to the devil.

We too often give place to the Devil in our thoughts. Give him an inch and he*ll take a mile. Give him a thought and he*ll take your mind. Give him a moment and he*ll take an hour. Give him a week and he*ll take your life. I have some questions for me and for you. When we turn on the TV, will our thoughts be in the captivity of Christ? Do we ask Him to help us keep our thoughts in His captivity BEFORE we turn it on and while we are watching it? Is he more important to us than TV? At all times?

Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, How much of what is available on TV is someone*s imagination? Almost all of it. How much of what is available on TV exalts itself AGAINST the knowledge of God? Almost all of it. We need to be careful what we watch and how often.

Romans 12:2: And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

Admittedly, bringing every thought into the captivity of Christ is impossible in this life, but it will be our joyful reality when we get to Heaven. It should be our goal right now. And it is a practical goal that will pay marvelous dividends here and now.

Isaiah 26:3: Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.

Psalms 1:1: Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. 2 But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night. 3 And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.
