Faith Produces Commitment

Faith is like giving the Lord a blank check. Faith permits Him to fill in the blank with whatever He wants. There are multitudes of religions that advocate no commitment to the Lord or some commitment that falls short of a whole-hearted commitment to Him. There are billions of individuals that join false religions PRECISELY BECAUSE THEY DO NOT WANT TO MAKE A WHOLE-HEARTED COMMITMENT TO THE LORD. Faith that does not produce commitment is questionable.

Acts 9:6: And he trembling and astonished said, Lord, what wilt thou have me to do? And the Lord said unto him, Arise, and go into the city, and it shall be told thee what thou must do.

That is a commitment.

Matthew 6:10b: . . . Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.

If we really mean it when we pray that, it is a commitment to God*s will instead of our own.

Proverbs 23:26: My son, give me thine heart, and let thine eyes observe my ways.

While it is Solomon speaking in the passage, it is a picture of the heart commitment that God wants from us. When he possesses and lives in our hearts, He also has access to our souls, minds and bodies.

Ephesians 3:17a: That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; . . .

Mark 12:30: And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment.

Giving our hearts to Him is a commitment.

1 Peter 5:6a: Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, . . .

That is a commitment.

James 2:18: Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works.

That is a commitment.

Ephesians 2:10: For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.

Doing what He wants instead of what we want takes a commitment.

1 Peter 4:19: Wherefore let them that suffer according to the will of God commit the keeping of their souls to him in well doing, as unto a faithful Creator.

That is a commitment.

Proverbs 16:3: Commit thy works unto the LORD, and thy thoughts shall be established.

That is a commitment.

Isaiah 6:8: Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, Here am I; send me.

That is a commitment.

Matthew 3:8: Bring forth therefore fruits meet for repentance:

That is a commitment.

2 Corinthians 12:14b: . . . I seek not yours, but you: . . .

Paul wanted a commitment to the Lord.

Romans 12:1: I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.

That is a commitment.

Joshua 24:15b: . . . as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.

That is a commitment.
