Follow The Leader
Christianity is following a new and perfect leader, Jesus Christ. We need a leader who can lead us through the mine-field of life. We need a leader who knows where the mines are that would blow us to smithereens. Any step an unbeliever takes can be onto a mine that will blow him into the Lake of Fire. Any step he takes can be onto a trap-door under which lies the Lake of Fire. Any step he takes can be into a spiritual ditch. If we follow a man we had better be absolutely certain that we can see Jesus ahead of him. As quickly as possible we should step out beside that man and directly follow Jesus on our own.
Luke 6:39: And he spake a parable unto them, Can the blind lead the blind? shall they not both fall into the ditch?
Psalms 37:23-24: The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD: and he delighteth in his way. Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down: for the LORD upholdeth him with his hand.
Psalms 119:105: Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.
Luke 9:23: And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me.
Mark 10:21: Then Jesus beholding him loved him, and said unto him, One thing thou lackest: go thy way, sell whatsoever thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, take up the cross, and follow me.
This man did not lack the love of Jesus. The one thing he lacked was that he was not following Jesus.
John 10:4-5: And when he putteth forth his own sheep, he goeth before them, and the sheep follow him: for they know his voice. And a stranger will they not follow, but will flee from him: for they know not the voice of strangers.
John 10:27: My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:
Matthew 4:19: And he saith unto them, Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.
Matthew 8:22: But Jesus said unto him, Follow me; and let the dead bury their dead.
Matthew 19:21: Jesus said unto him, If thou wilt be perfect, go and sell that thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come and follow me.
We can*t keep up with Jesus if we are bogged down with the weights of this world.
John 12:26: If any man serve me, let him follow me; and where I am, there shall also my servant be: if any man serve me, him will my Father honour.
The place where God honors men is in the very presence of Jesus.
If you have not concretely experienced the honour, delights, rewards and success of following Jesus you are not the Christian you ought to be or you are not a Christian at all.
