Foot Soldiers Needed

The problems today are partly with Christian leaders but mostly with Christians who live as if God did not exist. There are more of them than there are of leaders so they are the biggest problem. I understand that I am preaching to the choir in this article but one of the things Christians ought to be praying about and probably are not is for the Lord to send labourers into his harvest.

We are usually willing to pray for ourselves and our little circle of friends but how about all the nameless faces that we see and the needs we hear about? When we hear about all the evils happening in our world, we ought not to just throw up our hands in disgust, we ought to pray for the individuals responsible for the evil. Can God save them too? Does He want to? Absolutely! He saved you didn*t He? Without the restraining of the Holy Spirit, you and I would have been among the worst of the offenders. And many of us actually were. I was.

Matthew 9:37-38: Then saith he unto his disciples, The harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few; 38 Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth labourers into his harvest.

2 Peter 3:9: The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

Are we willing that some should perish? Do we wish for it? I was and I have, but God has forgiven me.

Thomas Champness:

Is it not one of the difficulties of church work that we have more officers than men? We need more of the rank and file, who are willing to march anywhere, and to do the lowliest of tasks. We shall succeed in doing greater things when we are all of us willing to be subject. It is the bayonet rather than the gold lace which is wanted when the enemy is to be subdued.

John 7:38: He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.

Are we turning off the spigot?
