Proverbs 4:5: Get wisdom, get understanding: forget it not; neither decline from the words of my mouth. 6 Forsake her not, and she shall preserve thee: love her, and she shall keep thee. 7 Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding.
Proverbs 16:16: How much better is it to get wisdom than gold! and to get understanding rather to be chosen than silver!
So where do we get wisdom? From God, from the book of Proverbs, from the whole Bible, from the Holy Spirit and from Spirit-filled believers. There is probably a church full of them near you.
James 1:5: If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.
1 Kings 3:7: And now, O LORD my God, thou hast made thy servant king instead of David my father: and I am but a little child: I know not how to go out or come in. 8 And thy servant is in the midst of thy people which thou hast chosen, a great people, that cannot be numbered nor counted for multitude. 9 Give therefore thy servant an understanding heart to judge thy people, that I may discern between good and bad: for who is able to judge this thy so great a people? 10 And the speech pleased the Lord, that Solomon had asked this thing.
By the way, you need to become a servant of God to get wisdom. Why would the Lord give wisdom to someone who would use it against Him?
1 Kings 4:29: And God gave Solomon wisdom and understanding exceeding much, and largeness of heart, even as the sand that is on the sea shore. 31 For he was wiser than all men; . . . and his fame was in all nations round about. 32 And he spake three thousand proverbs: and his songs were a thousand and five.
Proverbs 1:1: The proverbs of Solomon the son of David, king of Israel;
Proverbs 1:7: The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction.
Proverbs 9:10: The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding.
Psalms 111:10: The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: a good understanding have all they that do his commandments: his praise endureth for ever.
The fear of the Lord begins for us when we receive Jesus and become the children of God. When we receive Him into our hearts we become born again and we have the mind of Christ.
John 1:12: But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:
John 3:3: Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.
1 Corinthians 2:16: For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? But we have the mind of Christ.
There are two kinds of wisdom. There is the wisdom of the world and wisdom that is from above, from God.
1 Corinthians 3:19: For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written, He taketh the wise in their own craftiness.
James 3:17: But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy.
It is easy to tell the difference between the two kinds of wisdom. The wisdom of this world is impure, warlike, violent, aggressive, stubborn, unmerciful, evil, partial and hypocritical. So where did you get your wisdom and which kind do you have?
