Home Search Topics Contact About | God Wants To Be Our Teacher 1Consider what an unspeakable privilege it is to have the Creator of everything in the universe as your personal instructor. It is a costly blunder to reject His teaching. God Himself is the ultimate teacher. Anyone or anything else is a second-best teacher to our Creator. The three members of the Godhead are the best teachers we can have. If we are to have God as our teacher He must first make us something more than a natural man. He must make us spiritual men. 1 Corinthians 2:9: But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him. 10 But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God. 11 For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God. 12 Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God. 13 Which things also we speak, not in the words which man*s wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual. 14 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. 15 But he that is spiritual judgeth all things, yet he himself is judged of no man. 16 For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? But we have the mind of Christ. Much of what I shall share on the subject of God being our teacher is from the ideas and scriptures provided by Puritan Thomas Watson who lived in the 1600s. Psalms 143:10: Teach me to do thy will; for thou art my God: thy spirit is good; lead me into the land of uprightness. John 3:2: The same came to Jesus by night, and said unto him, Rabbi, we know that thou art a teacher come from God: for no man can do these miracles that thou doest, except God be with him. Luke 5:3: And he entered into one of the ships, which was Simon*s, and prayed him that he would thrust out a little from the land. And he sat down, and taught the people out of the ship. John 8:2: And early in the morning he came again into the temple, and all the people came unto him; and he sat down, and taught them. John 14:26: But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you. John 16:13: Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come. God gave us the Bible to teach us. If we have a Bible we can be taught by God the Father. If we have a Red-letter Bible we can be taught by Jesus and if we have the Holy Spirit within we can be taught by Him. Why settle for less than the best teachers? God gives us teachers that are the best among human teachers because they too have been taught by God Himself. We need to find the most Biblical ones we possibly can and we need to study the Bible for ourselves so we will choose our human teachers wisely. He speaks to us through the ones He gives. Ephesians 4:11: And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; Since God in His wisdom gave them, we need them.
