God Wants To Work IN YOU

And He wants to work through you.

Philippians 2:12-15: Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling. 13 For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure. 14 Do all things without murmurings and disputings: 15 That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world;

God working in you will cause you to do the work He wants you to do. That is His plan for you and that was His plan for you before you were born.

Ephesians 2:10: For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.

Ephesians 1:4: According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love:

He is going to finish the job.

Philippians 1:6: Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:

If you have received Jesus, that was the moment He began His good work in you.

When I was a young person, my father taught me to enjoy work. There was satisfaction in accomplishing something and in pleasing him. Since then I have learned for myself and from watching others that there is no satisfaction when we are doing nothing and accomplishing nothing. Idlers are the unhappiest people among unbelievers. And spiritual idlers are the unhappiest believers.

Psalms 100:2: Serve the LORD with gladness: come before his presence with singing.

Since I have been saved, my Heavenly Father has taught me to enjoy His work. I have discovered for myself and from watching others that there is greater satisfaction in doing His work than anything else. I have also learned that the most unsatisfied Christians are those who are doing nothing for the Lord. Not working for the Lord is more miserable than any other kind of idleness.

When we are filled with the Spirit we will be doing what God wants us to do. When we are not doing what He wants we are quenching and grieving the Holy Spirit.

1 Thessalonians 5:19: Quench not the Spirit.

Ephesians 4:30: And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.

It is a truly thrilling thought that the Creator of the universe wants to work in sinners like us. Think for a moment about what a great privilege that is. And it is a deeply troubling truth that my flesh wants to get out of sync with His will so much of the time.

Are you unhappy? Find out what God wants you to do and do that.
