John 14:6: Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
John 8:32: And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.
John 17:17: Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.
I believe it is appropriate to call the truth we find in Jesus and in the Bible Heavenly Truth and to call lesser truth earthly truth. Earthly truth includes scientific truth, mathematical truth, political truth, common sense truth etc. Heavenly truth supercedes earthly truth. Heavenly truth shines a light on earthly truth.
John 3:3: Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.
One who has been born again can see Heavenly truth that he could not see before and he can see earthly truth more clearly. We might define Heavenly truth as Spiritual truth and earthly truth as physical truth. Heavenly truth is complete truth. There are many things that one who has been born again can perceive that others cannot because he has access to complete truth.
Romans 1:18: For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness;
Those who hold the truth in unrighteousness do something with truth that makes it false. They do something with truth that weakens it. They twist it. They hold it back. They suppress it. To them it is in a shadow. They don*t believe it. They don*t know the value and power of it. They look at it from below and don*t see it all of it. They surround it with so many lies that they cannot see it. They cannot see truth in the light of Heaven. Their minds are completely blinded to Heavenly truth and partially blinded to earthly truth.
2 Corinthians 4:4: In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.
1 Corinthians 2:14: But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.
2 Corinthians 5:17: Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
There are many things that I can perceive since I have received Jesus that I could not before. I was a natural man and now I am a new creature. Their sin reverses good and evil for natural men. They actually see evil as good and good as evil. They are morally upside down.
Daniel 9:8: O Lord, to us belongeth confusion of face, to our kings, to our princes, and to our fathers, because we have sinned against thee.
Isaiah 5:20: Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!
Some of their confusion is the judgment of God for their sin.
Psalms 146:9: The LORD preserveth the strangers; he relieveth the fatherless and widow: but the way of the wicked he turneth upside down.
Unbelievers think that believers turn things upside down.
Acts 17:5-6: But the Jews which believed not, moved with envy, took unto them certain lewd fellows of the baser sort, and gathered a company, and set all the city on an uproar, and assaulted the house of Jason, and sought to bring them out to the people. 6 And when they found them not, they drew Jason and certain brethren unto the rulers of the city, crying, These that have turned the world upside down are come hither also;
Romans 1:24-25: Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves: 25 Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.
These thoughts might help us understand why there are so many differences of opinion between Christians and unbelievers.
