How Much Faith Is Enough
Pastor Kent McBay: Just enough to come to God.
If we seldom come to God, we seldom have enough faith. If we never come to God we never have enough faith. Coming to God is simple and sufficient but there are a number of things that can sabotage our actually coming to Him. There are things that we cannot bring with us when we come to Him. There are things that come between us and Him. There are things that demonstrate a lack of faith. We sometimes believe we are coming to Him when we are not. We sometimes believe that we have faith when we do not.
If we are not immersed in the Bible we don*t have enough faith.
Romans 10:17: So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
If we try to come to God with unforgiven sin we won*t get there.
Isaiah 59:2: But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear.
If we do not come seeking His will and not just our own selfish will we don*t have enough faith. We must ask. We must not demand.
1 John 5:14: And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us:
James 4:3: Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts.
If we come to Him in doubt we do not have enough faith.
James 1:6: But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed.
If we come to Him in pride we do not have enough faith.
James 4:6: But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble.
If we don*t come to Him fervently we don*t have enough faith.
James 5:16b: . . . The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.
If we don*t come to Him boldly we don*t have enough faith.
Hebrews 4:16: Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.
If you have not received Jesus you have no access to the Father you do not have faith at all.
John 14:6: Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
Hebrews 12:1-2: Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, 2 Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.
