How To Be SatisfiedPsalms 17:15: As for me, I will behold thy face in righteousness: I shall be satisfied, when I awake, with thy likeness.
The way to be satisfied is to be like God and like Christ, Godly and Christlike. We were created in the image of God. The image was marred by sin when Adam and Eve fell into sin. His image in us has been corrupted ever since. Before the fall, they were satisfied with who they were. After the fall, they were no longer satisfied with who they were. They were ashamed and tried to cover themselves.
When we receive Christ, He makes us new creatures. He forgives our sin and makes us more like Him again. The more we permit Him to work in us and on us, the more we will become like Him and the more satisfied we will be. Nothing will give us satisfaction like having our sins forgiven and being restored to the image of God, even being made like Him a little at a time. (Christian growth)
Nothing will give us satisfaction like being made what He wants us to be. When we are what He wants us to be we will be doing what He wants us to do. Our Creator wisely created us with a need to be like Him. That need cannot be met in any other way. We have the promises that we can be like Him in this life and will be like Him in a greater degree in Heaven. Some might say that it is impossible to be like Christ in this evil world. But the Bible says that we ARE like Him in this world.1 John 4:17: Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as he is, so are we in this world.
We shall be more like Him in Heaven because we will see Him more clearly.1 John 3:2: Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.
The Bible speaks of many things that will make us more like Him and more satisfied in this world and in this life.1 Timothy 6:6: But godliness with contentment is great gain. Psalms 65:4: Blessed is the man whom thou choosest, and causest to approach unto thee, that he may dwell in thy courts: we shall be satisfied with the goodness of thy house, even of thy holy temple.
Like the Jews were satisfied in the temple, Christians will be satisfied in the church, both the universal church of Christ and a local church.Psalms 22:26: The meek shall eat and be satisfied: they shall praise the LORD that seek him: your heart shall live for ever.
A characteristic of the meek is satisfaction.Psalms 37:19: They shall not be ashamed in the evil time: and in the days of famine they shall be satisfied.
Even in poverty, God*s people shall be satisfied.Proverbs 12:14a: A man shall be satisfied with good by the fruit of his mouth: . . .
When a man speaks what God wants him to speak, he will be satisfied.Proverbs 14:14: The backslider in heart shall be filled with his own ways: and a good man shall be satisfied from himself.
Being who and what God our Creator wants us to be makes us satisfied.Jeremiah 31:14: And I will satiate the soul of the priests with fatness, and my people shall be satisfied with my goodness, saith the LORD.
Nothing satisfies men like the goodness of God in their hearts and lives.
