In Earth As It Is In Heaven
Matthew 6:10b: . . . Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.
It should be the desire of every believer that God*s will be done on this old earth. For now we are living on this earth, so we should also desire that His will be done in our lives. I would suggest that when God*s will is done here on earth, it becomes a bit more like Heaven and when His will is done in our lives they are a bit more like they will be in Heaven.
Revelation 21:27: And there shall in no wise enter into it any thing that defileth, neither whatsoever worketh abomination, or maketh a lie: but they which are written in the Lamb*s book of life.
Much like in Heaven, God wants there to be nothing in our lives to defile them. He wants us to resist temptation. When we do that, at least on those occasions, our lives are a bit more like they will be in Heaven. There will be no temptation in Heaven.
Matthew 6:13b: . . . lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: . . .
God is able to keep us from much temptation. That is one way He can make earth a bit more like Heaven. And, of course, it is foolish for us to expose ourselves to temptation. And when we are tempted, He always makes a way of escape. That is not to say that we will always make use of that way.
1 Corinthians 10:13: There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.
When we do not make use of His way of escape and commit some sin He wants to forgive us. We will not sin in Heaven and there will never be a need for repeated forgiveness there. When He forgives us, earth becomes a bit more like Heaven.
1 John 1:9: If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
It is so important to God to forgive us our sins that He sent Jesus to be paid the wages of our sin so He could do it. Why is it so important to God that we be forgiven for and cease from sin? Because sin separates us from Him and He wants us to be with Him and in fellowship with Him.
Isaiah 59:2: But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear.
John 14:3: And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.
We who get to Heaven will never again be separated from God and that is the way that He wants it even now. Even though for children of God the separation is only temporary, by our sin we separate ourselves from Him for a time. We break fellowship with Him. Those in the Lake of Fire will be separated from Him forever. When we sin, we make our lives on earth a bit more like Hell. Is that the way you want it? Do you want to live your life separated from The One who has saved you and loves you?
