Joined To The Lord
What a wonderful description of a Christian*s relationship with the Lord. What a wonderful reality! In the many times I have read the Bible and listened to it on tape, I don*t recall ever noticing it until a few days ago. I love phrases that speak of our relationship with the Lord in unique ways.
Isaiah 56:4-6: For thus saith the LORD unto the eunuchs that keep my sabbaths, and choose the things that please me, and take hold of my covenant; 5 Even unto them will I give in mine house and within my walls a place and a name better than of sons and of daughters: I will give them an everlasting name, that shall not be cut off. 6 Also the sons of the stranger, that join themselves to the LORD, to serve him, and to love the name of the LORD, to be his servants, every one that keepeth the sabbath from polluting it, and taketh hold of my covenant;
The passage was written to the Jews but Gentiles certainly can be included in the phrase the sons of the stranger! Jesus prayed to the Father to bring us into a close and eternal personal relationship with Him.
John 17:20-23: Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word; 21 That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me. 22 And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that they may be one, even as we are one: 23 I in them, and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them, as thou hast loved me.
