Justice Or Mercy 2
Every mortal individual will receive one or other, justice or mercy, from the Lord. Many individuals believe that if they get justice they will go to Heaven. We all prefer to believe that we deserve Heaven. According to the Bible, individuals who get justice will go to the Lake of Fire forever and men who get mercy will go to Heaven forever. Because God loves us, He does not want us to make the wrong choice. He wants to take us to Heaven.
2 Peter 3:9: The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
God offers mercy to all men and if they reject His gift of mercy, they go to the Lake of Fire. He must do it that way because even though He loves us, He is just. And don*t forget that He owns us all.
Ezekiel 18:4: Behold, all souls are mine; as the soul of the father, so also the soul of the son is mine: the soul that sinneth, it shall die.
The only way God can mercifully declare us to be just is if we believe in Jesus.
Romans 3:23: For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; 24 Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus: 25 Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God; 26 To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus.
Romans 6:23: For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
God wants to give us mercy rather than the justice that we deserve. The gift of God is mercy, it is eternal life and it is Jesus Christ. When we receive Jesus, we get God*s mercy and eternal life.
1 John 5:11: And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. 12 He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.
God can only offer us mercy because His justice already fell upon Jesus on our behalf when He died on that cruel cross. When He died in our place, He received the justice that we deserve so that we might receive the mercy that He deserves.
Romans 5:8: But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
2 Corinthians 5:21: For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.
It is immeasurably foolish to choose justice and reject mercy. A very wise publican knew that he needed mercy and not justice.
Luke 18:13: And the publican, standing afar off, would not lift up so much as his eyes unto heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying, God be merciful to me a sinner.
I want mercy, how about you?
