Know Thine Enemy 7
The scriptures and truths in this article were either provided or inspired by my Pastor, Kent McBay.
Satan is totally and violently opposed to God*s Word, the Bible. He has been trying to destroy it and keep it from men ever since Adam and Eve. He wants no one to have the kind of life the Bible can give.
Luke 4:4: And Jesus answered him, saying, It is written, That man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God.
In a sense, the Bible is the written Word of God and Jesus is the living Word of God. In another sense both the Bible and Jesus are the living Word. The Bible is truth and Jesus is truth. Satan is opposed to the Bible and to Jesus and to every truth and every doctrine in the Bible. The Bible gives truth that can set us free and Satan has snares to capture us. Jesus, the Holy Spirit and the Bible are life and give life. Satan is a liar and a murderer and the father of it.
John 8:32: And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.
John 17:17: Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.
John 14:6: Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
John 6:63: It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.
The more we know, believe and put into practice of the Bible the more free we are. The less we learn, believe and put into practice of the Bible, the more we are in the snares of the Devil. The more we study the Bible and hear it taught the more freedom we can gain. Neglect the Bible and we become captives of the Devil.
2 Timothy 2:24-26: And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient, 25 In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth; 26 And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will.
Satan wants no one to hear or be taught the Word of God, the Bible, and come to faith in Christ.
Romans 10:17: So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
He would like no Christian to study the Bible, please the Lord, become a servant of God, understand or teach the Bible.
2 Timothy 2:15: Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
He would like no Christian to grow.
1 Peter 2:2: As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby:
He wants no Christian to meditate on the Bible, commit himself to what it says or demonstrate to others the difference the Bible can make in a life.
1 Timothy 4:15: Meditate upon these things; give thyself wholly to them; that thy profiting may appear to all.
He does not want anyone to find God*s path of life and he wants no one to see the good that it does to be in God*s path of life.
Psalms 119:105: Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.
