Labor Not To Be Rich
There is labor that is sinful and selfish and there is labor that is righteous and unselfish.
Ephesians 4:28: Let him that stole steal no more: but rather let him labour, working with his hands the thing which is good, that he may have to give to him that needeth.
1 Corinthians 3:9: For we are labourers together with God: ye are God*s husbandry, ye are God*s building.
When we are working for the benefit of others we are labourers together with God. The book of Proverbs gives us wisdom for living, including a lot of wisdom about riches.
Proverbs 23:4: Labour not to be rich: cease from thine own wisdom.
Proverbs 10:2: Treasures of wickedness profit nothing: but righteousness delivereth from death.
Proverbs 13:11: Wealth gotten by vanity shall be diminished: but he that gathereth by labour shall increase.
Proverbs 15:27: He that is greedy of gain troubleth his own house; but he that hateth gifts shall live.
Proverbs 20:21: An inheritance may be gotten hastily at the beginning; but the end thereof shall not be blessed.
Proverbs 28:20: A faithful man shall abound with blessings: but he that maketh haste to be rich shall not be innocent.
Proverbs 28:22: He that hasteth to be rich hath an evil eye, and considereth not that poverty shall come upon him.
I would not dare to buy a lottery ticket.
Jeremiah 17:11: As the partridge sitteth on eggs, and hatcheth them not; so he that getteth riches, and not by right, shall leave them in the midst of his days, and at his end shall be a fool.
1 Timothy 6:9: But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition.
Luke 12:20: But God said unto him, Thou fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee: then whose shall those things be, which thou hast provided?
