Lost

Luke 19:10: For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost.

Romans 10:13: For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

When we travel the wrong road in our automobiles, we never look for the right road until we become aware that we are on the wrong one. Individuals who have never believed they were lost have never believed that they needed to call upon the name of the Lord.

Lost people are all around us. There are churches everywhere that are full of individuals who have never been told they are lost. There are also multitudes of individuals in our world who have been told they are lost but they don*t believe it. They don*t want to believe it. It is unnatural for them to believe it. The idea that they are lost seems foolish to them.

1 Corinthians 2:14: But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.

John 16:7-9: Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you. 8 And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment: 9 Of sin, because they believe not on me;

He (the Holy Spirit) comforts those that are saved, but the first thing He does for men is to make them uncomfortable. It was not comfortable to learn we were lost. But it was comfortable to know that Jesus wanted to save us, was able to save us and would save us if we asked Him to. There was nothing before we received Jesus that could compare with the comfort we have after receiving Him. Whatever comfort we had before did not get to the most important place. It did not get to our hearts. It did not live in our hearts until Jesus lived in them.

Ephesians 3:17a: That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; . . .

The Bible tells people in many places that they are lost. But most people don*t read their Bibles and many skip the passages that tell them they are lost. Christians should share those passages with them whenever possible.

2 Timothy 4:2: Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine.

Romans 10:14-17: How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher? 15 And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things! 16 But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Esaias saith, Lord, who hath believed our report? 17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

Since so many people ignore the Bible, it is also VITALLY IMPORTANT that Christians live saved lives that lost people cannot ignore. We must not only tell them they are lost, we must show them they are lost by the lives we live. We must permit EVERY fruit of the Spirit to be apparent in us. We must permit the Bible to change our lives. Many have become saved after they saw the differences in how Christians lived.

Galatians 5:22-23: But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, 23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.

Matthew 5:16: Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.
