Love Passes Knowledge
Spiritual gifts, spiritual understanding, spiritual power, what we know, what we do and what we believe do not amount to anything unless we know the love of God. Knowing the love of God is incomplete knowledge if it does not enable us to love others. Loving others means meeting their needs. God promises to meet the needs of His children. Therefore they can spend their time and energy meeting the needs of others.
1 Corinthians 8:1b: . . . we know that we all have knowledge. Knowledge puffeth up, but charity (love) edifieth.
Knowledge without love makes us proud.
Ephesians 3:19: And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God.
Knowing facts and truth without knowing the love of Christ does not fill us with the fullness of God.
1 Corinthians 13:2: And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing.
I know some seemingly ignorant Christians who love much. They are way above me spiritually. I spend way too much time and energy trying to meet my own needs. How about you?
