Miracles 1

Miracles are everywhere. They happen all around us. They happen within us. We don*t recognize them. We take them for granted. We need to open our eyes to them. Knowing about them will help us to know how great our God is.

When God created things He started from scratch. He had to create the raw materials for His creation. When we create things we cannot start from scratch. When we create things we must use God*s raw materials. God permits us to use His raw materials. He gives us the ability to use His raw materials. What a Great God!

God*s raw materials are the elements. One list of elements I saw listed 115 of them. Not being knowledgeable about these things I accept that number. The smallest particle of each element is called an atom. Atoms all have a nucleus and different numbers of neutrons and protons. The atoms of different elements weigh different amounts. The different elements have different characteristics. The elements can be combined with one or more of the other elements producing different substances with different weights and different characteristics. What a Great God!

God has given mankind the ability to figure some of these things out. But when mankind figures them out he is only learning something that God knew all along. God knew before He created the raw materials what their characteristics would be. He knew before He created them that He would combine the elements in a myriad of ways to produce a myriad of substances. God is The Original All-Knowing Chemist. He created the elements, the raw materials, to be what He wanted and to do what He wanted. He created the combinations of elements to be what He wants and to do what He wants. What a Great God!

Oxygen is a miracle. Our bodies can*t live without it. Our lungs absorb it out of the air where God put it. Our lungs can separate it from the carbon dioxide and use it and eject the carbon dioxide. Without oxygen our body parts die. When the necessary body parts die our whole body dies. One important measure of our health is how much oxygen is circulated in our blood. Grass and trees absorb the carbon dioxide and use it and eject the oxygen. What a balance! Water has oxygen combined with other elements in such a way that our lungs can*t process it. Fish have lungs that can get oxygen out of the water but they can*t process the oxygen in the air. The farther we get away from the earth the less oxygen is present. We can*t live up there. God put us in a place where we would have enough oxygen. He put enough oxygen in the place where we are. It will be interesting to know some day what God will change when we go to heaven. Will we no longer need oxygen? Will we produce our own oxygen? Will there be spiritual oxygen for our spiritual bodies? Will heaven be full of spiritual oxygen? Will the Holy Spirit be our spiritual oxygen? What a Great God!

Water is a miracle. H2O. Two parts hydrogen and one part Oxygen. God created a lot of that stuff. Oceans full, lakes and rivers full and even our bodies consist of it. Scientists have proven that there is even some of it in other places in the universe. It can be a liquid, a solid or a gas. We can drown in it or we can get sick from a lack of it. We can*t live without it. There will be water in heaven.

Revelation 22:1: And he shewed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding out of the throne of God and of the Lamb.

The water in heaven will be different in its purity. It is called the water of life. What a Great God!

Gravity is a miracle. Gravity holds everything we need right here on or near the earth. Without it everything would just float away. We would never be able to find it. Oxygen, water and food would be unavailable. Gravity affects us also. It holds us on earth among the things we need. Someday when we won*t need it, God will suspend gravity for us. We will no longer be affected by it. In that day gravity will be a problem for some. It will confine unbelievers to earth while we believers will rise out of its influence into the clouds to be with the Lord.

1 Thessalonians 4:16-17: For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.

What a Great God!

The rotation of the earth is a miracle. If the earth did not rotate, one side of it would be exposed to the sun continually and would be fried. The other side would never see the sun and would freeze. The earth traveling in an orbit around the sun is a miracle. Earth*s orbit takes it nearer the sun and then farther away. The earth also swivels so the poles of the earth get nearer to the sun and then farther away from it. That produces our seasons and keeps our temperatures inside of God*s limits. What a Great God!

Light is a miracle.

Genesis 1:3: And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.

Isaiah 45:7: I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these things.

Psalms 139:12: Yea, the darkness hideth not from thee; but the night shineth as the day: the darkness and the light are both alike to thee.

God created light for us. He didn*t need it Himself. He knew that He would create us with eyes that would be able to see. Without light our eyes would be useless. Plants turn toward the sun. They absorb its rays and are able to grow because of it. The power of light can be magnified in the case of lasers that can do great good or destructive things. They can destroy tumors and kidney stones. Light moves. It moves faster than anything we can imagine at 186,000 miles per second. The colors are included in light. When light is refracted by a prism or in a rainbow we can see the colors. Colors are a miracle within the miracle of light. We see things in color because different materials absorb different parts of the light and reflect the others. What we see are the parts of light that are reflected to our eyes.

Sight is a miracle. Our eyes can see light and send signals to the brain about it. Our brain understands those signals instantly. God created our eyes to see in cooperation with the light He also created. The earth is the most beautiful of the planets. God created it for us in anticipation that He would create us to live on it. We can see the beauty of it in photos sent back from space. We can get down on our knees in a flower garden and see it there. We can see beauty anywhere we look. What a Great God!
