Not Good To Be Alone
Genesis 2:18: And the LORD God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him.
In the second chapter of the Bible God already tells us that it is not good to be alone. One of the first things we should know about ourselves is that it is not good for us to be alone. Why? We need someone to love us and we need someone to love. We need fellowship. We need people to teach us and we need people to teach. We need people to help us and we need people to help. We need people to serve and we need people to serve us. It is interesting that Adam and Eve*s relationship, which one would think would have been perfect, was marred by their sin and that sin also ruined their relationships with God. It is also interesting that God has given us many other relationships to reconcile us to Him.
1 Peter 3:1: Likewise, ye wives, be in subjection to your own husbands; that, if any obey not the word, they also may without the word be won by the conversation of the wives;
It is interesting to me that the Bible nowhere specifically says that a husband can win his wife without the word and having the proper conversation (life-style) but it has happened that way multitudes of times. It would take someone more spiritually astute than me to fully explain that. And, of course, Jesus promises to make those who follow Him to be fishers of men.
Matthew 4:19: And he saith unto them, Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.
And those who God uses to reconcile men to Himself are also called preachers, evangelists, seed-planters, waterers, witnesses, ambassadors, etc. Being reconciled with God helps us to be reconciled to others who have been reconciled to Him. It is strange that so many who claim to have received Christ do not long to associate with other reconciled men. They avoid other believers by avoiding fellowship with them and avoiding regular church attendance. I wonder if they have truly been reconciled with God. They certainly miss a lot of blessings. How can one be reconciled to the head but not be reconciled to the body?
Ecclesiastes 4:9: Two are better than one; because they have a good reward for their labour. 10 For if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow: but woe to him that is alone when he falleth; for he hath not another to help him up. 11 Again, if two lie together, then they have heat: but how can one be warm alone? 12 And if one prevail against him, two shall withstand him; and a threefold cord is not quickly broken.
Matthew 18:19: Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven. 20 For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.
Hebrews 10:25: Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.
1 Corinthians 12:12: For as the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of that one body, being many, are one body: so also is Christ. 14 For the body is not one member, but many. 18 But now hath God set the members every one of them in the body, as it hath pleased him. 20 But now are they many members, yet but one body. 27 Now ye are the body of Christ, and members in particular.
Psalms 133:1: Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!
Acts 2:46: And they, continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, did eat their meat with gladness and singleness of heart,
