Not In Vain

Everything God does for us has a purpose and everything we do for Him rather than ourselves will be rewarded.

1 Corinthians 15:10: But by the grace of God I am what I am: and his grace which was bestowed upon me was not in vain; but I laboured more abundantly than they all: yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me.

1 Corinthians 15:58: Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.

Mark 9:41: For whosoever shall give you a cup of water to drink in my name, because ye belong to Christ, verily I say unto you, he shall not lose his reward.

Ephesians 2:10: For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.

1 Corinthians 3:11: For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ. 13 Every man*s work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man*s work of what sort it is. 14 If any man*s work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward. 15 If any man*s work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire.

Only One Life by C.T. Studd

Two little lines I heard one day, traveling along life*s busy way;
Bringing conviction to my heart, and from my mind would not depart;
Only one life, *twill soon be past, only what*s done for Christ will last.

Only one life, yes only one, soon will its fleeting hours be done;
Then, in *that day* my Lord to meet, and stand before His Judgement seat;
Only one life, *twill soon be past, only what*s done for Christ will last.

Only one life, the still small voice, gently pleads for a better choice
Bidding me selfish aims to leave, and to God*s holy will to cleave;
Only one life, *twill soon be past, only what*s done for Christ will last.

Only one life, a few brief years, each with its burdens, hopes, and fears;
Each with its clays I must fulfill, living for self or in His will;
Only one life, *twill soon be past, only what*s done for Christ will last.

When this bright world would tempt me sore, when Satan would a victory score;
When self would seek to have its way, then help me Lord with joy to say;
Only one life, *twill soon be past, only what*s done for Christ will last.

Give me Father, a purpose deep, in joy or sorrow Thy word to keep;
Faithful and true what e*er the strife, pleasing Thee in my daily life;
Only one life, *twill soon be past, only what*s done for Christ will last.

Oh let my love with fervor burn, and from the world now let me turn;
Living for Thee, and Thee alone, bringing Thee pleasure on Thy throne;
Only one life, *twill soon be past, only what*s done for Christ will last.

Only one life, yes only one, now let me say, Thy will be done;
And when at last I*ll hear the call, I know I*ll say twas worth it all;
Only one life, *twill soon be past, only what*s done for Christ will last.
