Not Too Late
2 Timothy 2:22: Flee also youthful lusts: but follow righteousness, faith, charity, peace, with them that call on the Lord out of a pure heart.
I encounter many in nursing homes for whom the promises of the faithfulness of God are a living and functioning reality. They have been blessed by the faithfulness of God for many years and have enjoyed it. It seems to take some of us decades upon decades to learn that He is faithful. It seems rare for a young person to understand God*s faithfulness as well as a mature person. Many of us are slow learners. I was one of those. I do thank God that there are some young individuals who know that He is faithful.
Psalms 71:17: O God, thou hast taught me from my youth: and hitherto have I declared thy wondrous works.
1 Timothy 4:12: Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity.
I do wish that I had acquired this wisdom when I was younger. I do also thank the Lord that He preserved me in spite of the foolishness of my younger days. I am comforted by the fact that Moses ministry didn*t catch fire until he was 80 years old. And even some of Jesus disciples were older folk. I think of the man in John 5:8 who had an infirmity for 38 years. If you are still breathing it is not too late to give your life to Christ. But don*t use God*s patience as an excuse not to give it to Him today. If you never give it to Him you will regret it forever and if you delay giving it to Him you will regret that.
Hebrews 13:5: Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.
Joshua 23:14: And, behold, this day I am going the way of all the earth: and ye know in all your hearts and in all your souls, that not one thing hath failed of all the good things which the LORD your God spake concerning you; all are come to pass unto you, and not one thing hath failed thereof.
Isaiah 46:4: And even to your old age I am he; and even to hoar hairs will I carry you: I have made, and I will bear; even I will carry, and will deliver you.
Psalms 55:22: Cast thy burden upon the LORD, and he shall sustain thee: he shall never suffer the righteous to be moved.
Psalms 37:25: I have been young, and now am old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread.
Psalms 92:12-15: The righteous shall flourish like the palm tree: he shall grow like a cedar in Lebanon. 13 Those that be planted in the house of the LORD shall flourish in the courts of our God. 14 They shall still bring forth fruit in old age; they shall be fat and flourishing; 15 To shew that the LORD is upright: he is my rock, and there is no unrighteousness in him.
Deuteronomy 1:31: And in the wilderness, where thou hast seen how that the LORD thy God bare thee, as a man doth bear his son, in all the way that ye went, until ye came into this place.
Philippians 1:6: Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:
Psalms 48:14: For this God is our God for ever and ever: he will be our guide even unto death.
