Out Of Control
Jeremiah 10:23: O LORD, I know that the way of man is not in himself: it is not in man that walketh to direct his steps.
James 3:8: But the tongue can no man tame; it is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison.
1 Corinthians 2:14: But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.
Isaiah 64:6: But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.
Jeremiah 13:23: Can the Ethiopian change his skin, or the leopard his spots? then may ye also do good, that are accustomed to do evil.
A natural man cannot direct his steps, tame his tongue, receive the things of the Spirit of God or do good. His iniquities take him away. He is under the control of sin. The only way he can get out from under the dominion of sin is to receive Christ and in so doing yield Himself to Christ.
Romans 5:17: For if by one man*s offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.)
The only way any individual can gain control of himself and get out from under the control of sin is to first give control of himself to Christ. Then Jesus gives him the gift of righteousness. Hee can then reign in life (get control) and sin shall no longer have dominion over him. He now has the freedom to yield to righteousness. He promises to preserve us to make us perfectly righteous one day. Jesus frees us from the penalty for sin, the dominion of sin and will one day free us from the very presence of sin.
Romans 6:14: For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace.
Romans 6:16: Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness? 19 I speak after the manner of men because of the infirmity of your flesh: for as ye have yielded your members servants to uncleanness and to iniquity unto iniquity; even so now yield your members servants to righteousness unto holiness.
John 8:36: If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.
Hebrews 10:1: For the law having a shadow of good things to come, and not the very image of the things, can never with those sacrifices which they offered year by year continually make the comers thereunto perfect.
Hebrews 13:20: Now the God of peace, that brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant, 21 Make you perfect in every good work to do his will, working in you that which is wellpleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ; to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.
Ephesians 5:25: Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it; 26 That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word, 27 That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.
1 Thessalonians 5:23: And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
