Peace Be Unto You
Isaiah 48:22: There is no peace, saith the LORD, unto the wicked.
John 20:19: Then the same day at evening, being the first day of the week, when the doors were shut where the disciples were assembled for fear of the Jews, came Jesus and stood in the midst, and saith unto them, Peace be unto you. 21 Then said Jesus to them again, Peace be unto you: as my Father hath sent me, even so send I you. 26 And after eight days again his disciples were within, and Thomas with them: then came Jesus, the doors being shut, and stood in the midst, and said, Peace be unto you.
It is incredible how often one of the first words out the mouth of one who has received Jesus is that word peace. Even when they don*t speak the word, there is often a softening in their countenance, a change in their face, from a troubled look to a peaceful look, from a frown to a smile, from an unsatisfied look to a satisfied one, tears of joy that weren*t there before, from an uncomfortable look to a comfortable one, from an unhealthy look to a healthy look. It is no wonder. They have been reconciled to their Creator, the God of Peace and their Saviour, the Prince of Peace. They have been given peace with God and the peace of God. They know they have something precious that they did not have before. It is an unspeakable privilege and joy to sometimes see visible changes on the faces and in the behavior and attitude of brand new believers. It is actually a bit troubling when I don*t see any changes.

Amen.

Have you ever had peace that you could not understand or explain, peace that gripped and kept both your heart and your mind?
