Pray For Guidance Often
Believers should ask for God*s guidance more often than we ask Him for anything else. The wisest believers do that. If we do that we will not need to ask for His forgiveness and correction nearly as often, and we won*t need His chastening nearly as often. And, of course, when we ask for it we ought to obey it. This wisdom is found everywhere in the Bible. Asking for His guidance every ten minutes may not be often enough. It only takes a moment for us to go astray.
Luke 11:4: And forgive us our sins; for we also forgive every one that is indebted to us. And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil.
Psalms 23:1: The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. 2 He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.
Psalms 31:3: For thou art my rock and my fortress; therefore for thy name*s sake lead me, and guide me. 32:8 I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go: I will guide thee with mine eye. 9 Be ye not as the horse, or as the mule, which have no understanding: whose mouth must be held in with bit and bridle, lest they come near unto thee. 10 Many sorrows shall be to the wicked: but he that trusteth in the LORD, mercy shall compass him about. 11 Be glad in the LORD, and rejoice, ye righteous: and shout for joy, all ye that are upright in heart.
Ezra 8:21: Then I proclaimed a fast there, at the river of Ahava, that we might afflict ourselves before our God, to seek of him a right way for us, and for our little ones, and for all our substance.
For us, for our little ones and for all our substance. Doesn*t leave anything out, does it?
Psalms 139:23: Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts: 24 And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.
Jeremiah 10:23: O LORD, I know that the way of man is not in himself: it is not in man that walketh to direct his steps.
Psalms 37:23: The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD: and he delighteth in his way.
Isaiah 30:1: Woe to the rebellious children, saith the LORD, that take counsel, but not of me; and that cover with a covering, but not of my spirit, that they may add sin to sin: 2 That walk to go down into Egypt, and have not asked at my mouth; to strengthen themselves in the strength of Pharaoh, and to trust in the shadow of Egypt!
Revelation 7:17: For the Lamb which is in the midst of the throne shall feed them, and shall lead them unto living fountains of waters: and God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes.
His leadership is one of the things that will make Heaven Heavenly. Why not enjoy it on earth where we so desperately need it?
