Pray For The Courts
1 Timothy 2:1-2: I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.
I believe that there has been too little prayer in America for the Judicial branch of our government. Often when the Legislative branch of government passes laws and executives duly sign them judges overturn them. Referendums are passed by huge majorities and judges overturn them.
Judges currently have more power than the legislative and executive branches of government put together. They do not respect the will of the majority. What we have is government of the judges, by the judges and for the judges.
Because judges are appointed for life we tend to believe there is nothing we can do about them. It is true that it is more difficult to remove judges from office than authorities in the other branches of government. I believe that makes it more important that we pray for judges than for those in the other branches of government.
Christians ought to pray that thousands of judges will be converted to Jesus Christ. What a wonderful change that would make in the fabric of our country. We would actually have judges wisely administering justice.
1 Corinthians 6:1-4: Dare any of you, having a matter against another, go to law before the unjust, and not before the saints? Do ye not know that the saints shall judge the world? and if the world shall be judged by you, are ye unworthy to judge the smallest matters? Know ye not that we shall judge angels? how much more things that pertain to this life? If then ye have judgments of things pertaining to this life, set them to judge who are least esteemed in the church.
Please pass this thought along to all of the Christians you know. Let us begin a nationwide wave of prayer for changed hearts among our judges.
