Pray For Yourself
On the surface, that might sound selfish. But if we are not right with God, we will have little or no desire or ability to help others and vice versa. When we are not interested in helping others we are not right with God. When we are right with Him, the desire and ability to bless others will be the result. And, of course, praying for them should be the first thing we do for them and it will be the best thing. When we pray for them, the Lord will sometimes give us a part in blessing them. But He alone is able to do most of the blessing and He alone must do most of the blessing. We can expect unbelievers to pray selfishly and carnally but with believers that should not be the case. We should pray for ourselves, but not just for ourselves.
Psalms 139:23-24: Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts: 24 And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.

Psalms 31:3: For thou art my rock and my fortress; therefore FOR THY NAME*S SAKE lead me, and guide me.

In earth would include in our lives.
Psalms 51:10-13: Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me. 11 Cast me not away from thy presence; and take not thy holy spirit from me. 12 Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with thy free spirit. 13 THEN will I teach transgressors thy ways; and sinners shall be converted unto thee.
Ephesians 6:18: Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication FOR ALL SAINTS;
The bold capitals are mine.
