Pray Pray Pray
Pray in your thoughts. Pray before planning. Pray before decisions. Pray before speaking. Pray before acting. Pray for His will and guidance. Pray continually. I need these exhortations just as much as anyone.
Pray in your thoughts
Psalm 139:2: Thou knowest my downsitting and mine uprising, thou understandest my thought afar off.
Proverbs 23:7a: For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he: Eat and drink, saith he to thee; but his heart is not with thee.
2 Corinthians 10:5: Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;
1 Peter 1:13: Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ;
Pray before planning
James 4:13-15: Go to now, ye that say, To day or to morrow we will go into such a city, and continue there a year, and buy and sell, and get gain: 14 Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away. 15 For that ye ought to say, If the Lord will, we shall live, and do this, or that.
Pray before decisions
James 1:5 : If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.
1 Kings 3:9a: Give therefore thy servant an understanding heart . . .
Pray before speaking
Psalm 141:3: Set a watch, O LORD, before my mouth; keep the door of my lips.
Pray before acting
Jeremiah 10:23: O LORD, I know that the way of man is not in himself: it is not in man that walketh to direct his steps.
Psalm 37:23: The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD: and he delighteth in his way.
Pray for His will and guidance
We have the promise of His continual guidance whenever we are willing to be in His will.
Isaiah 58:10-11: And if thou draw out thy soul to the hungry, and satisfy the afflicted soul; then shall thy light rise in obscurity, and thy darkness be as the noonday: And the LORD shall guide thee continually, and satisfy thy soul in drought, and make fat thy bones: and thou shalt be like a watered garden, and like a spring of water, whose waters fail not.
1 Thessalonians 5:17: Pray without ceasing.
