Matthew 26:3: Then assembled together the chief priests, and the scribes, and the elders of the people, unto the palace of the high priest, who was called Caiaphas, 4 And consulted that they might take Jesus by subtilty, and kill him. 5 But they said, Not on the feast day, lest there be an uproar among the people.
Matthew 26:14: Then one of the twelve, called Judas Iscariot, went unto the chief priests, 15 And said unto them, What will ye give me, and I will deliver him unto you? And they covenanted with him for thirty pieces of silver. 16 And from that time he sought opportunity to betray him.
The Israelite leaders held a meeting for the purpose of killing Jesus. Their sin was premeditated. Judas also planned his betrayal of Jesus for some length of time. How often do we believers decide to commit some sin, plan it for some length of time and then carry through on it? The longer we plan our sin the longer we are out of fellowship with God and out of His will and the more trouble we can get into. Many have wisely said that sin will take you where you won*t want to go and you will pay a higher price for it than you want to pay.

2 Corinthians 2:10: To whom ye forgive any thing, I forgive also: for if I forgave any thing, to whom I forgave it, for your sakes forgave I it in the person of Christ; 11 Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.
The old expression give him an inch and he*ll take mile is certainly true of Satan. And we have probably all heard of sales people who get their foot in the door. When Satan tries to get a toe-hold, refer to the Bible.
