Purified Souls In Obeying
God alone purifies our hearts but we have a part in purifying our souls. Our part is obedience.
Acts 15:7: And when there had been much disputing, Peter rose up, and said unto them, Men and brethren, ye know how that a good while ago God made choice among us, that the Gentiles by my mouth should hear the word of the gospel, and believe. 8 And God, which knoweth the hearts, bare them witness, giving them the Holy Ghost, even as he did unto us; 9 And put no difference between us and them, purifying their hearts by faith.
1 Peter 1:22: Seeing ye have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit unto unfeigned love of the brethren, see that ye love one another with a pure heart fervently:
Many believe they can do their own thing and still be right with God. They are disastrously wrong.
Proverbs 14:12: There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.
Philippians 2:13: For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.
So what is that God works in us? When He works in us He makes us willing to do His will rather than our own. If our will has not changed and is not changing to His will, we are stubbornly not permitting His work in us.
Colossians 1:9: For this cause we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to desire that ye might be filled with the knowledge of his will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding;
Hebrews 13:21: Make you perfect in every good work to do his will, working in you that which is wellpleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ; to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.
James 4:15: For that ye ought to say, If the Lord will, we shall live, and do this, or that.
Romans 12:1: I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. 2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
He makes us obedient and when He does we are obedient.
Romans 15:18: For I will not dare to speak of any of those things which Christ hath not wrought by me, to make the Gentiles obedient, by word and deed,
Romans 6:17: But God be thanked, that ye were the servants of sin, but ye have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered you.
In order to be cleansed of all our sin and unrighteousness we need to walk in the light and confess and forsake our sin. When we do HE cleanses us of all unrighteousness.
1 John 1:6: If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth: 7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin. 9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
Proverbs 28:13: He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy.
A mentor in my past, Charles Svoboda said getting saved was like taking a bath on the inside. When we have we don*t want to go out and roll around in the mud again. Have you had your bath and are you avoiding the mud?
