Remembering God

The best pleasures in life for Christians are produced by remembering that we belong to The Lord, that He belongs to us, all that He has done for us, is doing for us and will do for us. He will never forget us, He will never lose us, He always loves us, He is always in us and He will never leave us nor forsake us.

The lowest points in our Christian lives are when we get so busy that we forget those things. Satan is a skilled distractor.

I have found it helpful to use common things that happen often in my life as reminders of my relationship with God. When I clean something I want to remember that He is cleansing me. When I go through a door I want to remember that Jesus is my Door. When I offend someone or someone offends me I want to remember that I was offensive to Him. When there are decisions to make I want to consult Him first. You get the idea.

The more things we use as reminders of Him, the more faith we will have and the more content we will be.

Hebrews 12:1b-2a: . . . let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, 2 Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; . . .

Hebrews 13:5: Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.

Jude 1:21: Keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life.
