Right With The Bible
2 Corinthians 13:5: Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates?
If you are right with God you will be right with the Bible. We ought to examine our relationship with God by examining our relationship with the Bible. If you believe that you can be right with God, but not right with the Bible you are kidding yourself. If you believe you are walking with God but you ignore the Bible, you are sadly mistaken. If you just sample the Bible, you are just sampling God Himself.
1 Peter 2:2-3: As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby: 3 If so be ye have tasted that the Lord is gracious.
Do you desire the Bible? Has it caused you to grow? Have you tasted and found the Lord to be gracious?
Psalms 19:9-10: The fear of the LORD is clean, enduring for ever: the judgments of the LORD are true and righteous altogether. 10 More to be desired are they than gold, yea, than much fine gold: sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb.
Do you want the Bible more than wealth? Is it sweeter to you than the sweet things you eat?
Acts 17:11: These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.
Do you receive the Bible with an open mind? Do you search it daily?
Psalms 119:105: Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.
Does the Bible guide you and show you the way?
Psalms 119:97: O how love I thy law! it is my meditation all the day.
Do you love the Bible? How often do you meditate on it?
James 1:21: Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls.
Has it become a part of you? Has it saved you?
2 Timothy 3:15-17: And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. 16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: 17 That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.
Has He given it to you personally? Has it made you wise unto salvation? Has it given you faith in Christ Jesus? Do you reject parts of it? Does it inspire you? Is it profitable for you? Does it reprove you of sin? Do you accept its correction? Does it correct you? Has it made you a perfect Christian? Has it given you everything you need to do good works?
James 1:22: But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.
Does it affect what you do? Do you merely hear it and deceive yourself?
Matthew 22:29: Jesus answered and said unto them, Ye do err, not knowing the scriptures, nor the power of God.
Do you err because of ignorance of the Bible? Are you aware of the power of God at work in your heart, in your life and in the world you live in?
2 Peter 3:16: As also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction.
Do you wrestle with the Bible? If so, it will destroy you.
Isaiah 55:11: So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.
Has it accomplished His will in your life?
Romans 10:17: So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
Has it brought you to faith? If not, you need more of it.
