Robin Hood Was A Robber
I wonder if they called him Robin Hood or Robbing Hood. Robin Hood was a robber and many of our government officials are too.
Ephesians 4:28: Let him that stole steal no more: but rather let him labour, working with his hands the thing which is good, that he may have to give to him that needeth.
Notice that the Bible passage says that men should work so they will have something to give. It does not say that they should rob or steal or tax for that purpose. Notice also that it does not say that they should give to him that greedeth.
2 Thessalonians 3:10: For even when we were with you, this we commanded you, that if any would not work, neither should he eat.
God makes a distinction between the needy and the lazy and the greedy. The needy should be helped while the lazy and the greedy should not. Legend has it that Robin Hood robbed the rich and gave to the poor. From God*s perspective, Robin Hood was a robber. From the perspective of the poor he was a hero. God*s opinion is right. I wouldn*t care much if he had just robbed from the rich who were uncharitable. They were not helping the poor anyway. God Himself would probably not care about that either. He might even think that some justice had been administered to the uncharitable rich. But when the rich who were already giving to the poor were robbed, they had less to give to the poor. God would certainly not approve of that.
Would to God that influential Americans, government leaders, judges, media personalities and educators would read the Bible and learn some of these simple principles. Would to God they would learn right from wrong. Would to God they would learn that it is better to please the Lord than to bribe voters. They would then want to help the needy and not the greedy and they would want to reward the generous and penalize the stingy. God is not too fond of bribery either. The Bible teaches that both the bribers and the bribed are corrupt.
Amos 5:12: For I know your manifold transgressions and your mighty sins: they afflict the just, they take a bribe, and they turn aside the poor in the gate from their right.
Isaiah 1:23: Thy princes are rebellious, and companions of thieves: every one loveth gifts, and followeth after rewards: they judge not the fatherless, neither doth the cause of the widow come unto them.
I do understand that there are tax deductions for giving and tax free status for some organizations. But many don*t qualify for those exemptions and many in our nation would prefer to take them away.
