Run To Serve The Lord
During a choir practice I had some congestion in my throat. I did not want to interrupt the practice by going for a glass of water. I caught the eye of one of my Pastor*s daughters. I asked her if she would get me a half glass of water. She immediately RAN to get that water. By her action, she preached a wonderful mini-sermon. How many would have been slow about it? How many would not have done it at all.
Genesis 18:1-7: And the LORD appeared unto him in the plains of Mamre: and he sat in the tent door in the heat of the day; 2 And he lift up his eyes and looked, and, lo, three men stood by him: and when he saw them, he ran to meet them from the tent door, and bowed himself toward the ground, 3 And said, My Lord, if now I have found favour in thy sight, pass not away, I pray thee, from thy servant: 4 Let a little water, I pray you, be fetched, and wash your feet, and rest yourselves under the tree: 5 And I will fetch a morsel of bread, and comfort ye your hearts; after that ye shall pass on: for therefore are ye come to your servant. And they said, So do, as thou hast said. 6 And Abraham hastened into the tent unto Sarah, and said, Make ready quickly three measures of fine meal, knead it, and make cakes upon the hearth. 7 And Abraham ran unto the herd, and fetcht a calf tender and good, and gave it unto a young man; and he hasted to dress it.
Abraham ran to meet the Lord and hastened and ran to serve Him and His two companions. The Lord of Glory was refreshed by Abraham, the father of faith. I was refreshed by that young daughter of faith. Do you and I refresh the Lord and others by timely service?
1 Corinthians 9:24: Know ye not that they which run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize? So run, that ye may obtain.
Hebrews 12:1: Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,
