Running The Place
Ephesians 3:17a: That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; . . .
Vance Havner asked some believers about Jesus in their hearts: is He running the place? So what should happen when He is running the place. When He is running our hearts, He should also be running our lives.
Romans 10:9-10: That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
In the passage He is not just called Jesus, He is called the Lord Jesus. The word Lord means One having supreme authority. Receiving Him is receiving His authority over you. Hebrews 12 says that He is the author and finisher of our faith. If He is living in your heart you will have saving faith. Without Him you will not. With Him in your heart you are saved. Without Him you are not.
Ephesians 3:16-21: That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man; 17 That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love, 18 May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height; 19 And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God. 20 Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us, 21 Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen.
With Him in your heart it will be strengthened, your main motivation will be love, you will have increased comprehension, you will know that His love passes your understanding, you will know that His power can do much more than you can even ask for or think and you will know that He is working in you. We can*t even know all that He can do when He is running our hearts. We cannot know the widespread impact on others that His running our hearts will have.
Colossians 1:27: To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory:
Having Christ in your heart should be the richest experience you ever had. But your flesh wants to run the place and does not want Jesus running it. Your flesh running the place will give you the poorest experience you can have. You must decide and you must decide often every day to let Jesus run the place. Your wise heart will never regret it.
1 Corinthians 1:30: But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption:
If you insist on running your own life you will lack wisdom. You will be a fool. I have been a fool but I don*t want to be one any more.
