Saved From Sinning Here And Now
When we receive Jesus we are saved from many things. Three of the most important things are that we are saved from the penalty of sin, the power of sin and in Heaven we will be saved from the very presence of sin. We enjoy being saved from the first thing and the third thing. But we have a problem being saved from the second one. We are given the power to stop practicing sin. But we don*t always avail ourselves of that power. We don*t always stop sinning.
Romans 8:1: There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
Revelation 21:27: And there shall in no wise enter into it (Heaven) any thing that defileth, neither whatsoever worketh abomination, or maketh a lie: but they which are written in the Lamb*s book of life.
God Himself totally handles the miraculous first and third things. But second miracle is down here on the earth. We NEED to work with Him on that one. That is the thing we need right now. We may or may not have had it in the past and having it in the future does us no good here and now.
1 Corinthians 3:9: For we are labourers together with God: ye are God*s husbandry, ye are God*s building.
John 5:14: Afterward Jesus findeth him in the temple, and said unto him, Behold, thou art made whole: sin no more, lest a worse thing come unto thee.
John 8:11: She said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more.
1 Corinthians 10:13: There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.
Our loving God even wants to forgive us here and now when we do sin and give it dominion over us. He always does His part. When we confess it and forsake it, He always removes its dominion over us.
1 John 1:9: If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
Romans 6:14: For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace.
Can you list some of the sins that He has forgiven you? Can you list some of the sins that He has helped you to stop committing? If we permit sin to have continual dominion over us now, how can we believe we shall escape its penalty and presence in the future?
