Self-Inflicted Judgment

There is no other kind of judgment that occurs after men die. At that time all judgment is self-inflicted. When people sin they earn judgment. God gives everyone an opportunity to escape that judgment. When they reject that opportunity they inflict judgment on themselves. Their judgment is inevitable. It is called justice. Unbelievers dig their own grave. They make their own bed.

Romans 6:23a: For the wages of sin is death; . . .

Jeremiah 2:17: Hast thou not procured this unto thyself, in that thou hast forsaken the LORD thy God, when he led thee by the way?

Jeremiah 4:18: Thy way and thy doings have procured these things unto thee; this is thy wickedness, because it is bitter, because it reacheth unto thine heart.

Jeremiah 44:7-8: Therefore now thus saith the LORD, the God of hosts, the God of Israel; Wherefore commit ye this great evil against your souls, to cut off from you man and woman, child and suckling, out of Judah, to leave you none to remain; In that ye provoke me unto wrath with the works of your hands, burning incense unto other gods in the land of Egypt, whither ye be gone to dwell, that ye might cut yourselves off, and that ye might be a curse and a reproach among all the nations of the earth?

Romans 13:2: Whosoever therefore resisteth the power, resisteth the ordinance of God: and they that resist shall receive to themselves damnation.

1 Corinthians 11:29: For he that eateth and drinketh unworthily, eateth and drinketh damnation to himself, not discerning the Lord*s body.

Psalms 107:17: Fools because of their transgression, and because of their iniquities, are afflicted.

Galatians 6:7: Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.

Isaiah 64:6: But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.

Romans 2:5-6: But after thy hardness and impenitent heart treasurest up unto thyself wrath against the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God; Who will render to every man according to his deeds:

Jeremiah 17:10: I the LORD search the heart, I try the reins, even to give every man according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings.

Revelation 22:12: And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be.

Romans 1:20: For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:

Jeremiah 8:3 And death shall be chosen rather than life by all the residue of them that remain of this evil family, which remain in all the places whither I have driven them, saith the LORD of hosts.

There is a group of people who do not get the judgment they deserve. They get a tremendous gift. They get mercy instead of judgment. They are the people who come to Jesus Christ in faith.

Romans 6:23b: . . . but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Psalms 103:10: He hath not dealt with us after our sins; nor rewarded us according to our iniquities.

Romans 4:8: Blessed is the man to whom the Lord will not impute sin.

Galatians 3:6-7, 9: Even as Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness. Know ye therefore that they which are of faith, the same are the children of Abraham. . . . So then they which be of faith are blessed with faithful Abraham.

So how about if you stop punishing yourself? How about if you receive Christ into your heart and life as Saviour?
