Six Fold Blindness

A physically blind person knows that he is blind but a spiritually blind person does not know that he is spiritually blind, which is far worse. A physically blind person will usually have understanding and the four other senses, touch, hearing, smell and taste. His understanding and those other senses will often compensate for his lack of sight. The spiritually blind person is spiritually dead. He will be unable to understand, see, hear, feel, smell or taste spiritual things. His blindness is six-fold. Because he is spiritually dead there is nothing to alleviate his blindness except receiving the spiritual life that is in the Lord Jesus.

1 John 5:11-12: And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. 12 He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.

John 5:24: Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.

Becoming a child of God, being born again, passing from death unto life and being given spiritual understanding and spiritual senses describe the same event. Becoming a child of God, being born again, passing from death unto life happen the moment one receives Jesus. Getting the spiritual understanding is a spiritual growth process that might be compared with the physical and intellectual growth of a new born-baby. A baby does not know what it is like to be born and alive outside the womb until it happens to him. Likewise, one who has not been born spiritually does not know what it is like to be spiritually alive.

Our spiritual understanding, sight, hearing, feeling, smelling and tasting might be compared with their physical counterparts.

Matthew 13:15: For this people*s heart is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes they have closed; lest at any time they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and should understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them.

Acts 17:27: That they should seek the Lord, if haply they might feel after him, and find him, though he be not far from every one of us:

2 Corinthians 2:16: To the one we are the savour of death unto death; and to the other the savour of life unto life. And who is sufficient for these things?

Psalms 34:8: O taste and see that the LORD is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in him.

Do you ever wonder why Christians are different and behave differently from others? They can see, hear, understand, feel, smell and taste things that others cannot. Has it happened to you? If not, you need to receive Jesus.

John 1:12: But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:

If you have received Jesus but have not been all that greatly changed by Him, you need to study the Bible more so you can grow more.

1 Peter 2:2-3: As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby: 3 If so be ye have tasted that the Lord is gracious.

John 10:10b: . . . I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.

Colossians 2:10b: And ye are complete in him, . . .
