Some Truth About Healing
Physical healing will last 100 years at most. Spiritual healing will bless forever. Which healing do you think God is most concerned about? And which healing are you most concerned about? God sometimes has reasons to permit His children to be ill. Sometimes His purposes are the same for us as they were for the Apostle Paul. The purposes for Paul*s thorn in the flesh: so men would not worship him, so he would be humble, so the power of Christ would be upon him and all would know it wasn*t Paul*s power. Paul was willing to be weak if it brought glory to God. Are we?
2 Corinthians 12:7: And lest I should be exalted above measure through the abundance of the revelations, there was given to me a thorn in the flesh, the messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I should be exalted above measure. 8 For this thing I besought the Lord thrice, that it might depart from me. 9 And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. 10 Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ*s sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong.
Sometimes there are things we need to learn that we cannot learn in any other way than illness.
Psalms 119:71: It is good for me that I have been afflicted; that I might learn thy statutes.
Sometimes we believers are chastened with illness because we disrespect God rather than worshipping Him. We do that by not living in His will. We live according to our own will.
1 Corinthians 11:28: But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of that bread, and drink of that cup. 29 For he that eateth and drinketh unworthily, eateth and drinketh damnation to himself, not discerning the Lord*s body. 30 For this cause many are weak and sickly among you, and many sleep. 31 For if we would judge ourselves, we should not be judged. 32 But when we are judged, we are chastened of the Lord, that we should not be condemned with the world.
Spurgeon devotional on Jeremiah 17:14: Heal me, O Lord, and I shall be healed. 57:18 I have seen His ways, and will heal him.
