The Humility of Jesus
Philippians 2:5: Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: 6 Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: 7 But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: 8 And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.
Matthew 26:39: And he went a little further, and fell on his face, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt.
John 6:38: For I came down from heaven, not to do mine own will, but the will of him that sent me.
2 Corinthians 8:9: For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, that ye through his poverty might be rich.
Hebrews 2:9: But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour; that he by the grace of God should taste death for every man.
Matthew 11:29: Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.
Zechariah 9:9: Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion; shout, O daughter of Jerusalem: behold, thy King cometh unto thee: he is just, and having salvation; lowly, and riding upon an ass, and upon a colt the foal of an ass.
Luke 9:58: And Jesus said unto him, Foxes have holes, and birds of the air have nests; but the Son of man hath not where to lay his head.
John 1:3: All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.
Colossians 1:16: For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him:
Jesus is God the Son and the Son of God. He is the Creator. All things were made by Him. He did not just create all things in Heaven and in earth, He created Heaven and earth. He created the entire universe. He created everything that we can see and everything that we cannot see. He created the angels and He created us. And yet He humbled Himself.
When we compare His humility with our pride it should break our hearts. I was too proud to surrender my heart to Him until I was over 40 years old. Even since I surrendered my heart to Him, my flesh is too proud to study the Bible, pray, and ask Him for His wisdom and guidance. My flesh is too proud to obey Him. His measureless humility proves how much He wants to forgive us, save us, guide us, help us to avoid sin and take us to Heaven when our time comes.
He humbled Himself to meet our needs in spite of the fact that we were proud sinners.
Romans 5:8: But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
Our pride is the characteristic that makes us the least like Jesus, opposites of Him. God*s purpose for us is to make us like Jesus, humble. How far along are we in that purpose?
Romans 8:29: For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.
Proverbs 6:16: These six things doth the LORD hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him: 17a A proud look, . . .
First on the list of things that God hates is a proud look.
1 Peter 5:6: Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time:
