The Plague Of Your Heart
1 Kings 8:38: What prayer and supplication soever be made by any man, or by all thy people Israel, which shall know every man the plague of his own heart, and spread forth his hands toward this house: 39 Then hear thou in heaven thy dwelling place, and forgive, and do, and give to every man according to his ways, whose heart thou knowest; (for thou, even thou only, knowest the hearts of all the children of men;) 40 That they may fear thee all the days that they live in the land which thou gavest unto our fathers.
The Lord is under no obligation to hear or answer any prayer by one who does not know about the plague of his own heart. The plague of our heart is sin. That is our first and biggest problem. All of our other problems are dwarfs by comparison. We need God to solve that problem most of all and once He has solved that, He will go to work on the smaller problems.
Jeremiah 17:9: The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?
Psalms 34:18: The LORD is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit. 51:17 The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise.
Matthew 15:17: Do not ye yet understand, that whatsoever entereth in at the mouth goeth into the belly, and is cast out into the draught? 18 But those things which proceed out of the mouth come forth from the heart; and they defile the man. 19 For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies: 20 These are the things which defile a man: but to eat with unwashen hands defileth not a man.
Luke 6:45: A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh.
The difference between the good man and the evil man is that the good man has Jesus dwelling in his heart. The cure for the plague of our hearts is Jesus. We receive Jesus, He makes us children of God, gives us the Holy Spirit, and then our hearts can bear the fruit of the Spirit instead of sinning.
John 1:12: But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:
Galatians 4:6: And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father. 5:16 This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh. 19 Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, 20 Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, 21 Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God. 22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, 23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. 24 And they that are Christ*s have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts. 25 If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.
Ephesians 5:9: (For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth;)
