Thin Ice

Many individuals are on something far more dangerous than thin ice. The greatest danger that any of us face is being out of God*s will. We have no guarantee that any of us will be alive tomorrow. I have on occasion dealt with individuals who delayed receiving Christ. I have also dealt with many Christians who trifle with great danger by going their own way instead of God*s.

James 4:14: Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away.

We like being safe. We like to keep our loved ones, friends and property safe. We like having police and firemen on the job. We keep our doors locked and live in gated communities. We go to great lengths to be safe, but without the Lord*s protection, nothing can keep us safe.

Psalms 127:1: Except the LORD build the house, they labour in vain that build it: except the LORD keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain.

Pastor Dan Lupton: The safest place in the world for a Christian is in the center of the circle of God*s will. If it is God*s will for you to be there, the safest place for you is in a jungle, a battlefield, a storm, a flood or any other danger, real or perceived. God*s protection of Job was called a hedge. Just as He did for Job, God will only let the hedge down around His own when it is for their benefit.

Job 1:10: Hast not thou made an hedge about him, and about his house, and about all that he hath on every side? thou hast blessed the work of his hands, and his substance is increased in the land.

A Christian is protected because Jesus prays for him.

Romans 8:34: Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us.

Christians have an enemy, Satan, who wants to attack all of God*s children just as he fiercely as he wanted to attack Peter.

Luke 22:31-32: And the Lord said, Simon, Simon, behold, Satan hath desired to have you, that he may sift you as wheat: But I have prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not: and when thou art converted, strengthen thy brethren.

1 Peter 5:8: Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:

I hope and pray you will personally avail yourself of the many Bible promises of God*s protection for his own by seeking His will, getting into it and staying there.

Psalms 18:2: The LORD is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower.

Psalms 31:2-3: Bow down thine ear to me; deliver me speedily: be thou my strong rock, for an house of defence to save me. For thou art my rock and my fortress; therefore for thy name*s sake lead me, and guide me.

Psalms 71:3: Be thou my strong habitation, whereunto I may continually resort: thou hast given commandment to save me; for thou art my rock and my fortress.

Psalms 61:2: From the end of the earth will I cry unto thee, when my heart is overwhelmed: lead me to the rock that is higher than I.
