Trapped Or Free
Satan set a trap for Adam and Eve. They took the bait and were caught. He has been setting traps for men ever since. Disobeying the Lord is a trap. Every sin is a trap. The Bible calls Satan*s traps snares and bonds. Unbelievers are trapped by sin and Satan and don*t even know it.
1 Timothy 3:7: Moreover he must have a good report of them which are without; lest he fall into reproach and the snare of the devil.
2 Timothy 2:26: And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will.
1 Timothy 6:9: But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition.
Acts 8:23: For I perceive that thou art in the gall of bitterness, and in the bond of iniquity.
The one who can set Satan*s prisoners free is the Lord Jesus Christ. Have you been set free? Are you praying for others to be set free?
John 8:32, 36: And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. . . . 36 If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.
Romans 6:14, 18, 8:2: For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace. . . . 18 Being then made free from sin, ye became the servants of righteousness. . . . 8:2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.
Psalms 40:2: He brought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings.
Psalms 86:13: For great is thy mercy toward me: and thou hast delivered my soul from the lowest hell.
While only Jesus can set us free in the first place, we have a part in staying free thereafter. Even believers can be snared by Satan. But believers who study the Bible and live it learn to recognize Satan*s traps and avoid them.
Psalms 119:11: Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.
James 1:25: But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.
Galatians 5:1: Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.
