Unfairness

Luke 23:39: And one of the malefactors which were hanged railed on him, saying, If thou be Christ, save thyself and us. 40 But the other answering rebuked him, saying, Dost not thou fear God, seeing thou art in the same condemnation? 41 And we indeed justly; for we receive the due reward of our deeds: but this man hath done nothing amiss. 42 And he said unto Jesus, Lord, remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom. 43 And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, To day shalt thou be with me in paradise.

A wonderful Christian friend of mine about 35 years of age suffered a fatal injury in a skiing accident. At his memorial service my Pastor touched on the unfairness that often happens to us. My friend had always stopped to help at the scene of accidents, he always helped needy people financially and did many other unselfish things. When the rest of us thought he was foolish he did that sort of thing anyway. It didn*t seem fair that his lovely Christian wife was deprived of his love.

Sometimes we are all treated unfairly by others. But we have all been unfair with our Creator. The unfair things we have done to the Him are without number. And in my little brain it looks awfully unfair that Jesus died to pay the wages of my sin but He did it anyway.

Romans 3:10: As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one: 11 There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God. 12 They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one. 23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; 24 Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus: 25 Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God; 26 To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus.

Psalms 103:10: He hath not dealt with us after our sins; nor rewarded us according to our iniquities.

When something that isn*t fair happens to me the Lord has taught me to think these thoughts. I deserve Hell, this not Hell and I am never going there.
